Toast Tip Readiness

What this does

ShiftQ location availability and Tip human permissions are independent checks. Tip customer access requires current active UID membership and current saved role permissions. A SmartQ email domain does not grant access, and deleted UID membership cannot fall back to an email-keyed record. No Access, Read Only and Editor respect group/parent scope, location restrictions and existing role inheritance. IQ and Tip Readiness consume the same shared labor facts. Scheduled computation within ShiftQ remains available when IQ reports are disabled. Sources are reused_shiftq_iq_snapshot or shared_operational_computation. Historical evidence is never silently treated as current after a source failure. One automatic run is committed per location and business date, even if IQ and scheduled triggers overlap. Use silent Recheck after resolving a same-date source failure. The business day changes at 04:01 venue-local time; delayed retries retain the original due business date and timezone/DST rules apply.

Steps

1. Enable ShiftQ for the applicable location using existing group defaults and location overrides. Then grant human Tip Readiness permissions in Users > Roles. Both product access and user access are required.
2. Open ShiftQ > Tip Readiness. Readiness includes immutable run history; Notifications and Settings are adjacent ShiftQ section links. No Access hides Tip links and denies direct routes. Read Only can inspect readiness and history but cannot change configuration, Recheck, acknowledge or edit notification preferences. Editor actions remain limited to their assigned group/location and granular Tip capabilities, including inherited roles.
3. With IQ enabled, automatic IQ completion immediately supplies valid same-date shared facts. IQ email delivery is independent. With IQ disabled, ShiftQ Tip Readiness runs the same canonical shared operational computation at the configured venue-local time after 4:00 AM (default 5:00 AM). No IQ report or email is needed for this path. Without ShiftQ, Tip Readiness has no access, scheduled execution or notifications.
4. In Settings choose FULL_DAY_WORKED, ORDER or SERVICE_PERIOD and baseline labor checks. Restaurant Services supplies names and IDs; Restaurant Information supplies weekly timing. Import a draft, review service days and overnight boundaries, select jobs or employees, and confirm buffers and overlap. Customer-declared team drawers are not verified cash balances. Save the location configuration with its version.
5. READY means the configured operational checks passed. NOT READY means action or current source data is required. Toast remains responsible for calculating and distributing tips; SmartQ cannot retrieve Toast Tip Manager policy rules and does not distribute tips.
6. Recheck refreshes the selected business date and stays silent. Acknowledge records who reviewed a finding and why without changing NOT READY or erasing evidence. History retains configuration, findings, freshness, computation source and exact source failure. Wrong-date or stale IQ data cannot substitute for current evidence.
7. In Notifications, an authorized Editor chooses recipients and an optional webhook. Automatic NOT READY runs notify once per idempotent delivery identity through the ShiftQ email foundation. READY, Recheck and acknowledgement are silent. Disabling ShiftQ suppresses queued delivery. Retry uncertain deliveries only after investigation to avoid duplicates.
